There may be good and bad reasons for leaving a existing job. Let us just see a few :
CHANGING CAREER FOR GROWTH: Anyone who is worthy of his job looks for greener pastures to relocate themselves in a better job. Many look for better jobs for career growth. Change in career path, i.e., looking for another line of job, is also one reason for change a job. A need for a full time position, new challenges or a permanent and dignified position may prompt a employee to look for another job. Being recognized by the management is the key word for any employee to stick to his present employee. In a desire to increase ones pay packet one may try to land himself in a higher pay job .
CHANGE IN COMPANY POLICIES : A company which cannot find prospects in their present business may try to downsize itself by reducing the hours of working, cutting down on employees, cutting down the pay of employees, outsource their business or plan to change their management. All these reasons many have an adverse effect on the employee, thereby prompting him to look for better opportunities. The position in which a person is working may have been eliminated.
PERSONAL REASONS: This reasons, to a certain extent , do not play a important role while one plans to shift a job. All that an employer needs a good employee who can meet the company requirements as far as work is concerned. Since we are saying ‘personal’ the reasons holds good for the employee. His family circumstances like relocating his family, getting married, commuting long distance to reach office. Needing a flexible time to work., i.e., unable to attend office and be able to work from home is one personal reason.
Not all reasons to leave a job are good. There may be some bad and jerky reasons well. It is better an employee does not bad mouth the bad reasons for leaving a job, bosses or companies. This may land him in a bad position as far as his new employment concerns.
FEAR OF GETTING A PINK SLIP: The fear of getting fired due to your bad performance, not being able to communicate well with your colleagues may be one reasons for wanting to quit the job. Long working hours, irregular schedules like change in shifts or getting bored at doing the same work – without challenges may also prompt one to quit. For some the job assigned by their management may be too difficult for them to handle. The fear of not being promoted to a better position prompts one to resign.
PERSONAL ISSUES: It is better not to discuss much about this while resigning a job. You may think the company may be doing bad and may not prosper in the market. You may have child care related issues. Your personal reasons to quit a job is that someone at home may have prompted you to quit over some rocky issues.
However, while tendering your resignation make sure that your present employer does not dispute the reasons given by you to quit your job.
